We ended our second day in the countryside (the day that included hitchhiking in a rice truck and other sites) at the Lung Cu Flag Tower, the northernmost spot in Vietnam. This is the closest I’ve ever been to China. Many of the guidebooks we read about this spot, including Lonely Planet, talked about passport checks and tight security, but we didn’t run into any of that. Our guide took care of tickets, so we breezed on through.
China is just over the mountains, within my sight. What a beautiful spot to watch the sun dip below the horizon. Day three of the countryside trip to come>>>all the posts from our trip can be found here.
